A Purpose built compound
The purpose built school is set out in a 6 hectare compound. There is ample space outside for children to safely play and practice sports, race their bikes or jog around the running track.
We are set in rural surroundings, next to a mango plantation and the village of Kiniabour II. Here the local people either plant millet and peanuts in the traditional manner or seek employment in Dakar during the week.
For most of the year, the site can appear dry and dusty, yet during the wet season, the place becomes amazingly green. Hundreds of tree sapplings have been planted since we moved here and the site is beginning to have plenty of shade.
Within reach of the capital
The school is within relatively easy access of Dakar, with its wide range of shops, services and international airport. Dakar has hospitals, private clinics, private GP’s and dentists. There are good medical facilities too in Thies and an emergency SOS service in Saly. Thies is about 30 minutes away and is very handy for shopping, with its colourful markets and supermarkets.
